Sometimes you reach a point where you ask yourself: does what we do still fit who we are?

That’s a question we have asked ourselves quite often lately when it came to the hospitality side of De Koevoet. And honestly, we had known the answer for quite some time.
That is why, starting this summer, we have decided to stop serving à la carte dinners in our Havencafé.

At first, this may sound like a big change. But to us, it actually feels like returning to the heart of De Koevoet.

Back to simplicity and personal attention

De Koevoet has never been a place of luxury or rush. What guests appreciate here is the peace, the small scale and the feeling of being truly welcome. A chat on the terrace. A spontaneous piano moment in the Havencafé (Harbour Cafe). Sitting together by the fireplace after a day on the water.

A full à la carte restaurant concept increasingly no longermatched that atmosphere. It requires a lot from a small team, creates stress around staffing and quietly takes attention away from what we are truly good at: personal hospitality.

 So we are consciously choosing simplicity.
 No more extensive menus, but instead:

* a cosy Havencafé;

* coffee and cake;

* simple snacks;

* spontaneous live music evenings;

* board games by the fireplace;

* and of course our trusted meat and cheese fondue evenings.

Fondue the way it is meant to be

Many of our returning guests have enjoyed our fondue evenings for years. Grilling your own meat in hot oil, or enjoying creamy cheese fondue with fresh green salads and homemade sauces. Long conversations, another piece of bread, one more spoonful of sauce. No culinary fuss — just enjoying a meal together.

That is exactly why we want to make more room for it.

On selected evenings throughout the season, we organise fondue evenings that you can reserve in advance. On those evenings, we really only serve fondue — meat and cheese — because that simplicity creates calm in the kitchen and atmosphere around the table.

More possibilities for groups

There will still be plenty of options for groups as well.

Coming with family or friends and would you like to dine together? We are happy to think along with you. For example, we can arrange a caterer to provide a buffet in the Havencafé. Or you can cook in your own apartments and then enjoy the meal together at one large table in the café. We will take care of the drinks, the tableware and the dishes afterwards

The Havencafé remains the heart of De Koevoet

What will not change? The atmosphere.

The Havencafé will remain the living room of De Koevoet. The place where stories are shared, where guests meet each other and where the piano suddenly comes to life.
Perhaps it will become even more De Koevoet than ever before.

Less rush. More coziness. More time for each other.

And honestly, we are really looking forward to that.
