Sustainability has been instilled in owners Niels and Nelly from a young age, fostering a strong connection with the environment and nature. At De Koevoet, we are committed to a sustainable world every day. We conduct our business with consideration for nature, people, and society. Our love for this special place, the landscape, and our social environment guides everything we do. We realise that everything we do - or choose not to do - has an impact. Daarom zetten we ons bij De Koevoet dagelijks in voor een duurzame wereld. We ondernemen met oog voor natuur, mens en maatschappij. Onze liefde voor deze bijzondere plek, het landschap en onze sociale omgeving is de leidraad in alles wat we doen. We realiseren ons dat alles wat we doen - of juist niet doen - impact heeft. Daarom integreren we duurzaamheid steeds dieper in ons bedrijf, onze diensten én producten.

With every decision, we consciously choose the most sustainable solution. Everything must align with our goal: to preserve and enhance our immediate surroundings and the world.

We achieve this by

  • Continuously staying informed about new developments and sharing our knowledge with employees, colleagues, and guests. Together, we can achieve more.
  • Asking guests to contribute, for example by saving water, separating waste, and picking up litter.
  • Involving our suppliers in our quest for sustainable products, such as organic, fairtrade, and local products, and materials with an eco-label.
  • Seizing every renovation opportunity to enhance sustainability, resulting in fully insulated roofs, reused materials, and special roof tiles to provide a safe haven for wildlife.
  • Not using chemical pesticides. Animals are given plenty of space.

What we already do

  • We generate a significant portion of our electricity with 86 solar panels, conserve water with adapted showers and taps, separate waste, use only LED lighting, and cleaning products with an EKO label.
  • We serve many organic and fairtrade products in our harbour cafe, along with herbs and lettuce from our own garden!
  • Our 'Green Team' continuously ensures that we meet the standards of Green Key and Blauwe Vlag.
  • Leftover soap and shampoo are given a second life with us, available for free to those in need.

Green key

Green Key is the largest sustainability mark for the tourism and leisure industry in the Netherlands. Companies with a Green Key quality mark do everything they can to preserve the environment, without their guests compromising on comfort and quality. As a result, we always go a step further than normal laws and regulations require.

Blue Flag

The Blue Flag is an international environmental award given annually to beaches and marinas. It recognises the beach or marina's efforts in environmental and sustainability management, safety, water quality, awareness and education, and waste prevention and sorting.
